Our Fantasy Premier League Armbandits captain tips this week are a combination of on-form players and proven point-scorers who have started the season slowly - which will prove most effective in gameweek 3?
Man City and our top tip for gameweek 3, Sergio Aguero, started the season well with a comfortable 0-2 away win at Brighton, but things took a turn for the worst last week as they narrowly avoided a home defeat to Everton. We are expecting Aguero to return to his goal-scoring exploits again this weekend as City take a trip to Bournemouth in Saturday's early kick-off. Last season Man City actually scored more goals away (43) than they did at home (37) and that has continued in the 2 games this season. Bournenouth are without a Premier League point or even a goal after 2 games and have conceded 3 times. We predict Aguero will lead the City attack with at least 1 goal in gameweek 3.
Romelu Lukaku's impressive start to his Man United career continued in gameweek 2 as he scored his 3rd goal in 2 Premier League games. There is every reason to expect that scoring run to continue as United host Leicester this weekend, who conceded 4 times in their first away match of the season.
Two non-scoring matches have been enough for many FPL managers to jump-ship from Harry Kane, but those who have kept faith will be hoping (if not expecting) him to turn things around as Spurs host Burnley in gameweek 3. We predict he will find the net this weekend and kick on from there in a run of fixtures that include the visit of Swansea and a trip to West Ham.
Many of the same things can be said about Dele Alli, but at least he as already got on the scoresheet with a goal against Newcastle in gameweek 1. We all know that the quality is still there that saw him score 18 and provide 11 assists in the Premier League last season. We predict Spurs will break their Wembley hoodoo this weekend.
Marcos Alonso repaid his big-spending FPL owners last weekend with a match-winning brace against Spurs and reminded us all that he is one of the rare breed of defenders for which it is worth digging deep. Chelsea host Everton in gameweek 3 and Alonso has the potential to gain FPL points at both ends of the pitch.
