Welcome to the first of my new weekly series: 'The Crystal Ball', where I will attempt to predict the results of the weeks PL games! Enjoy!
Arsenal : Leicester City
While confidence will be running through the Arsenal camp after their Charity Shield triumph, the opposite can be said for Leicester - a poor pre season which involved a defeat to Wolves and Burton Albion. Although historically poor in opening games I expect Arsenal to win this one although Vardy could be deadly on the counter attack.
2-0 to Arsenal.
Watford : Liverpool
Liverpool have looked deadly in pre season, new signing Mo Salah has been in imperious form, him and Mane's pace coupled with the precision of Coutinho looks like a recipe for goals! A miserable lunchtime in store of Watford fans!
4-0 to Liverpool.
Chelsea : Burnley
Things are looking bleak in the Chelsea camp with rumours of unrest between Conte and his board. A home tie against Burnley looks on paper the perfect game to ease fears of strife, Burnley will make it hard and a Hazardless Chelsea may struggle to break them down however I expect Fabregas to unlock the door!
2-0 to Chelsea.
Crystal Palace : Huddersfield
What an achievement for Huddersfield to gain promotion up to the PL! A good pre season and transfer window has put them in good stead for a successful campaign. Tom Ince will be vital. A new manger for Palace will naturally create a feel good factor so this game should be a cracker to watch! An entertaining
Everton : Stoke City
After a summer of heavy spending on new and familiar faces Everton fans will be upbeat for the season ahead. Stoke will have their work cut out against a new look Everton attack and a beating the £30 million Jordan Pickford wil be a challenge. A goal for Rooney, surely?
1-0 to Everton.
Southampton : Swansea
A new manager and the same old problems for the Saints, a player who wants to leave, guess where to; Liverpool. It's happened before... However they always seem to be able to keep up a decent level and facing a Swansea side without their star man makes things a look easier. I don't expect Swansea to create much without him!
2-0 to Southampton.
West Brom : Bournemouth
A side that loves to defend and a side that loves to attack. Should be fairly one-sided then right? Probably true - however the signing of Jay Rodriguez to go along with Matt Phillips and Nacer Chadli should mean more goals! Tough to call but Bournemouth to edge it.
1-0 to Bournemouth.
Brighton : Man City
A wonderful pre season for City during which they ripped Real Madrid and Spurs apart! Their attacking options look ready to explode! Brighton couldn't have a tougher test in their first ever PL game, I expect City to have too much quality and to win quite easily!
4-0 to City.
Newcastle : Spurs
Harry Kane will be desperate to end the talk about how 'he never scores in August' and I think he will do so. Spurs looked good against Juve last Saturday with Alli and Eriksen in good nick as well as Kane. A bit short on the right side of defence with Trippier's injury that's why I'm backing Newcastle to score but Spurs will be too strong!
3-1 to Spurs.
Man United : West Ham
Finally, Romelu Lukaku's debut for the Red Devil's! A cracking record against the hammers means many of us will be backing him for the captaincy in GW1. Another striker who will be desperate to score is Javier Hernandez, players often score against their old club and I see it happening again on Sunday!
