Finally after a long wait for FPL Managers the first gameweek of the Premier League has arrived for the 2017/18 Season. The Gameweek begins with the first fixture Arsenal taking on Leicester and not to forget the deadline for squad submission is 6.45pm BST.
For the predictions of this gameweek you can take a look at this article.
In this article I will be listing the players to watch from each position based on their price, fixtures and points scoring possibility, possible captaincy choices and lastly the best gameweek-1. Squad so let's get started!
Firstly lets begin with the Goalkeepers:
- David De Gea (£5.5)
- Petr Cech (£5.5)
- Hugo Lloris (£5.5)
- Ben Foster (£4.5)
- Ederson Moraes (£5.5)
From the above list David De Gea is the best keeper available looking at his first 6 fixtures but his price is a constraint, So Ben Foster may be the best realistic option available out there, but there may be less chances of consistent clean-sheets.
- Marcos Alonso (£7.0)
- Antonio Valencia (£6.5)
- Cedric Soares (£5.0)
- Ben Davies (£5.5)
- Saed Kolasinac (£6.0)
- Kyle Walker (£6.5)
Marcos Alonso is off budget for most of the FPL managers but he is indeed the best Premium Defender to own. Excluding Alonso Defenders like Cedric Soares, Ben Davies, Antonio Valencia and not to forget Arsenal's new signing Saed Kolasinac are good options. If you cannot afford to own Kolasinac then the second best defender is Nacho Monreal and in case of Antonio Valencia it's Eric Bailly. Kyle Walker is also a good choice but in my opinion I would suggest to wait and see how well he settles with his new side and in Guardiola's plans.
- Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0)
- Christian Eriksen (£9.5) or Dele Alli (£9.5)
- Mohamed Salah (£9.0) or Sadio Mane (£9.5)
- Pedro (£8.0) or Willian (£7.0)
- Wilfried Zaha (£7.0)
Selecting balanced Midfield play's an integral part of an FPL Squad. So when looking at the above list Kevin De Bruyne is the best option available. Between Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen I would favour to own Eriksen rather than Alli. When we look at Liverpool's current midfield there is a confusion of whom to own. Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah (are priced same at £9.0) and Sadio Mane are all excellent choices but the question who is better among them? The answer clearly is Philippe Coutinho but there is a chance that he may not play this gameweek due to injury plus there are some rumours surrounding doubting his future at Liverpool. In that case I would suggest to own Salah rather than paying extra £0.5 for Mane. Now another intresting question who is better Pedro or Willian? The answer is Pedro. Willian may play until Hazard is fit and then may be rotated. Undoubtedly Willian is a good temporary choice but incase of long term thinking then pay the extra £1.0 and get Pedro. The best midfielder in the range of £7.0 is Wilfried Zaha he had a fantastic Preseason and if manages to continue the same form he will surely benefit his current owners. If you are wondering where is Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil it looks like they are injured and may miss the first gameweek.
- Harry Kane (£12.5)
- Romelu Lukaku (£11.5)
- Sergio Aguero (£11.5) or Gabriel Jesus (£10.5)
- Alexandre Lacazette (£10.5)
- Roberto Firmino (£8.5)
Undoubtedly the 2016/17 Golden-boot winner Harry Kane looks to be the must have player this season. Priced at £12.5 this season is indeed a lot but when considering his capabilities it's nothing. The second best choice is Manchester United's new signing Romelu Lukaku he certainly looks to be the best Forward partner for Kane incase you are playing a 3-5-2 formation. Now there is another dilema between Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus that who is better? The answer is Aguero only due to his Premier League experience and familiarity, if you are unwilling to spend the extra £1.0 then get Jesus who is also equally good. In case you are playing a 3-4-3 formation then the other prominent forwards available are Alexandre Lacazette, Roberto Firmino, Jamie Vardy and Christian Benteke.
- Obvious Pick: Romelu lukaku
- Second Choice: Harry Kane
- Differential Choice: Kevin De Bruyne
- Risk Pick: Wilfried Zaha
