The towels have been rolled out, sun cream applied and beach balls blown up, that can only mean one thing, the end of another FPL season. So without wasting any more time here is our season review.
SO WHAT HAVE WE LEARNT?
This season we have learnt a lot more about squad make ups.
Firstly, the preferred option in Goal is a £9m pair : Tom Heaton priced originally at £4.5m finished at the price of £5.1m and finished as the league's highest point scoring keeper despite only keeping 10 clean sheets, however he enjoyed an abundance of save points. If he is £5.0m next season then he will be a very popular pick by managers.
Defenders have increased in point’s potential thanks largely to Antonio Conte, he has inspired the Premier League to play with wing-backs. If they are classified as defenders next season, many of us won’t be put off by a £7m or more price tag.
The 5th midfielder has played a very important role in our squads. Etienne Capoue started it with a bang in his first 5 gameweek’s he scored 44 points then from gameweek 11-20 Matt Philips scored 74 points and then toward the end of the season our 5th Midfield slot became our main source of consistent points, a 16 goal hero in the form of Joshua King. The King of FPL ensured most live teams continued to play with a 5 man midfield, will a price hike put us off him come July?
Finally the Forwards, options were limited in the £7.5m-£8.5m bracket until Gabriel Jesus arrived on the scene. The budget strikers like Alvaro Negredo, Jermain Defoe, Fernando Llorente showed brief spells of their FPL worth but not much more. The temple for next season looks to be Kane and Jesus but Manchester United may have something to say about that in the form of Antoine Griezmann...
